DESHAUN HOLDEN

Owner

As a former competitive gymnast, my journey in the world of gymnastics has been both challenging and rewarding. Beginning my career at the Gemini School of Gymnastics under the tutelage of Skip Zimmerman, I was immersed in an environment that cultivated my skills and passion for the sport. However, by the age of 14, I found myself in a position where I needed to contribute towards my tuition and travel expenses, due to my family's financial constraints. This early experience taught me the value of resilience and self-reliance, shaping the professional I am today.

My journey continued as I transitioned to the Apollo School of Gymnastics, a move that allowed me to train alongside peers my age, further enriching my experience and development as a gymnast. My career eventually culminated at Orlando Metro, marking the end of my competitive journey. Despite this, my passion for the sport did not wane. At the age of 16, I earned my judge's certificate, enabling me to serve as a gymnastics judge in Florida and Georgia. This role not only deepened my understanding of the sport but also allowed me to contribute to the gymnastics community from a different perspective until I transitioned to coaching women's gymnastics full-time in 2010.

Today, I am proud to be the owner of Top Notch Training Center, a facility that lives up to its name in every aspect. Renowned for being one of the best gyms in Georgia and across the country, Top Notch is celebrated for its exceptional talent pool and the strong familial bond among its members. Our gym's diversity is one of our greatest strengths, fostering an inclusive environment where gymnasts from various backgrounds can thrive. Over the years, we have nurtured numerous State, Regional, National, and International Champions, a testament to our commitment to excellence. As we look to the future, we are excited about the prospects of our athletes, many of whom are on the path to becoming college scholarship recipients.

At Top Notch Training Center, we are more than just a gym; we are a community dedicated to the success and development of our athletes, ensuring that we will continue to thrive and excel in the world of gymnastics.

Our Staff is dedicated and experienced. We look forward to serving your family.

MARIEL

Business Manager

I began my journey in gymnastics at just 2 years old, starting with a Mommy-and-Me class at Tucker Tucks Recreation Center. My passion for the sport was immediate, leading me to start competing at the age of 5, a path I followed until I was 18. During high school, I transitioned into coaching, a role I continued throughout college at Georgia Elite Gymnastics, as well as into my young adult life at The Atlanta School of Gymnastics. Over the years, I have coached Compulsory, Xcel, and Optional levels across all gymnastics associations.

My love for mentoring young gymnasts and teaching them the skills necessary for success—both in gymnastics and in life—has been a driving force in my career. I played a key role in founding the Club Gymnastics team at The University of Georgia, where I also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish, further broadening my educational and professional horizons.

At 19, I began judging gymnastics and has since become a respected member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges. I currently hold a Level 10 rating and judge gymnastics competitions for the USA, AAU, NGA, NAIGC, and NCAA organizations both nationally and internationally. In addition to my judging roles, I serve as the AAU and USA State Judging Representative, further demonstrating my leadership within the gymnastics community.

In February of 2024, I joined Top Notch Training Gym, where I embraced the role as a Business Manager. Being back in a gymnastics setting feels like a homecoming, and I thrive in the fast-paced and active environment. I love working with a such a positive and motivated team, and find fulfillment in the daily energy and collaboration at Top Notch.

Gymnastics has profoundly shaped me, teaching me essential life skills such as self-discipline, mental toughness, resilience, interpersonal skills, body awareness, and confidence. These lessons have been instrumental in my personal and professional development, contributing significantly to the woman I am today.

Beyond my gymnastics career, I have a deep passion for traveling, a love fostered by the opportunities gymnastics has provided. I have explored many parts of the world, and I am grateful for those experiences. In my free time, I enjoy attending sporting events, traveling the world, trying new restaurants, and spending quality time with family and friends.

DEANNA

Team Director

Hello. I am Deanna Daniel. I have been coaching gymnastics since the age of 14. I was a competitive gymnast and competed for The Atlanta School of Gymnastics as a level 10 until I graduated from high school in 1995.

I have been coaching for over 30+ years. I have coached all levels of compulsory, optional, and even young gymnasts on the Elite track, including the TOPS and Hopes levels. I love coaching compulsory bars and optional beam the most. I enjoy doing choreography for floor routines as well. I focus on the importance of basics with all the gymnasts to ensure confidence and a solid foundation for skills. When I am not at gym, I enjoy ANY outdoor activity.

My educational background includes a BS degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University in 2001 and a second BS degree in Health Science from Brenau University in 2018. I completed my master’s degree in public health from Southern New Hampshire University in April 2022.

I also have a background in law enforcement. I was a police officer and detective for DeKalb County for many years where I was able to work in the uniform division as a patrol officer and CID where I investigated property crimes/burglary, forgery, fraud, and narcotics. I live with my husband, who is a K9 handler and has given 20+ years of services to law enforcement and continues with it today. We are an Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta United and Alabama Crimson Tide loving kind of family.

ASHANTI

Developmental Director | TOPS Director

Hello! I’m Ashanti Robinson. I started gymnastics at age 4 at Georgia Gymnastics Academy in Lawrenceville, where I trained under Judy Prestigiacamo, Amanda Cane, and many other coaches that had a profound impact on both my gymnastics, and the woman and coach I am today.

At 16, chronic injuries ended my dream of competing in college, but I continued until I was 18 and graduated from high school.

I started coaching in college at a gym in Statesboro, Georgia, and fell in love with mentoring gymnasts, and building relationships. After graduating from Georgia Southern University with a BS in Exercise Science, I moved back to metro Atlanta and joined the TNT family.

My favorite events to coach are beam and floor! A memorable coaching moment was when one of my USA level 4 gymnasts scored a perfect 10 on vault at the 2024 Kupets Pink Invitational!

I will never forget seeing that score flash on the board, and her reaction after the hard work she put in all season. Girls like her are why I do what I do. That kind of determination and success makes coaching incredibly rewarding.

In addition to being a former gymnast and current coach, I am also a member of the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges, which enhances my coaching skills. In this role I am able to expand my knowledge for the sport and transfer it into my coaching.

In short, if I’m not sleeping, I’m doing something related to gymnastics, and I love it!

ARI

Front Desk Associate

Hello, my name is Ari. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, I first encountered gymnastics while watching gymnasts train at the gym where I was involved in competitive cheerleading during high school. Although I appreciated sports, I realized they weren’t my true calling. My passion led me to the beauty industry, where I began taking clients while pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus on Marketing.

With aspirations of owning my own salon, I attended Keune Academy, completed my training, and earned my cosmetology license in 2019. Shortly after graduating, I began working as a full-time stylist, and through hard work and dedication, I emerged as the best extension specialist to the position of salon manager.

However, as I started to feel the effects of burnout, I decided to shift my focus. This led me to a transformative role as a full-time colorist for wigs, working with clients who had experienced severe hair loss due to cancer.

This experience reignited my passion for the beauty industry. I decided to get my own suite and start taking clients full-time once again. While I still aspire to own a salon one day, I am committed to continuously educating myself on the fundamentals that will help me build a strong foundation for that dream. When I’m not working at TNT, I enjoy DIY projects, traveling, exploring new experiences, and creating unforgettable memories with family and friends.

PAM

Front Desk Associate

Hi, I’m Pam! I am originally from Mississippi, and I love being a part of the TNT family! I have worked in the gymnastics world for over 19 years. I’ve always had a passion for the gymnastics industry, and my role at the front desk allows me to connect with gymnasts and their families daily. I love being the first friendly face you see when you walk through our doors and helping to create a welcoming environment for everyone who steps into the gym.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending my time walking, reading, and being with my family. Whether it’s a peaceful walk in the park, getting lost in a good book, or gathering with loved ones, these activities bring me joy and balance in life. My hobbies keep me grounded and energized, which I bring into my work at the gym, ensuring that each day is as positive and organized as possible for our staff and gymnasts.

My nearly two decades in the gymnastics world have given me a deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work that goes into this sport. I’m passionate about supporting our athletes, coaches, and families, and I feel privileged to be part of a community that inspires young gymnasts to reach their full potential. It’s truly rewarding to witness their growth and success, and I’m proud to contribute to the supportive environment at Top Notch Training Gym.

LIA

Engagement & Community Liaison

Hi! My name is Lia, and I’m excited to share a bit about my journey. I grew up in Normal, Illinois, a town that really shaped my childhood experiences. From a young age, I was always on the lookout for new adventures, which led me to try a variety of sports. One sport that particularly captured my heart was gymnastics. I loved the thrill of learning to tumble and the joy of open-gym time, where I could explore my skills in a fun, free environment.

The coaches I had during those formative years were incredibly supportive and encouraging. Their kindness and guidance left a lasting impression on me, and while I eventually moved on from gymnastics, the desire to positively impact children's lives—just like my coaches did—stayed with me. This passion has now brought me to the TNT family, where I hope to inspire and nurture the next generation of young athletes. My goal is to make even half the impact that my coaches had on me.

In addition to my work with kids, I’m also pursuing my studies at Oglethorpe University, where I’m diving into graphic design and digital art, along with social media marketing. I find great joy in creating art and exploring new ideas visually. When I’m not balancing school and work, I love spending quality time with my family and friends, engaging in my artistic pursuits, and, of course, hanging out with my adorable pet bunny! Each of these experiences enriches my life and fuels my passion for creativity and connection. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

GILLIAN

Compulsory Team Coach

Hi, my name is Gillian! I have a rich background in gymnastics, taekwondo, and diving. I was a gymnast for 9 years, starting at age 5 and transitioning to coaching at 15.

Over the past 6 years, I've gained extensive experience coaching in both Los Angeles and here. My passion for coaching stems from my love for gymnastics and the joy of helping others excel in the sport. I've been a coach with TNT since 2023, specializing in USA 2/3, NGA 2/3/4, and Gym Stars.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, listening to music, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. Recently, I’ve taken up martial arts tricking, which combines martial arts and gymnastics, adding an exciting twist to my routine. Whether at a trampoline park or on grass, I love flipping around with friends. My ultimate goal is to become a professional stuntwoman in movies and TV.

The experience I’ve gained in gymnastics and coaching has been invaluable in this pursuit, providing a strong foundation in technique and performance. I'm excited to continue my journey with TNT and share my passion for gymnastics with my students!

Hi! My name is Alex, and I’ve been a proud member of the Top Notch family for the past two years. From the moment I walk through the gym doors, I can’t help but smile, knowing that I get to spend my day with such incredible kids. Building strong, meaningful connections with each of them is something I truly cherish. My top priority is to create a positive and safe environment where every child feels supported and encouraged.

I strive to foster a space where they can learn, grow, and have fun, all while feeling confident in their abilities and potential.

What motivates me most as a coach is seeing the spark of excitement in a child’s eyes when they master a new skill or overcome a challenge. It's those moments of realization and pride that make everything worthwhile. I’m passionate about not only teaching gymnastics but also helping to build life skills like perseverance, teamwork, and self-confidence. My goal is to be a positive influence in their lives, both inside and outside the gym.

KATIE

Developmental Instructor

Hi, I’m Katie! I fell in love with gymnastics almost 30 years ago. I started gymnastics when I was 7 years old. I took gymnastics classes and competed at Gym Works gymnastics in Lilburn. Once I started 8th grade I decided to try out cheerleading. I dropped back on competitive gymnastics and decided to take on tumbling/cheer. I did tumbling/cheer for 3 years.

My junior year of high school I decided to drop cheerleading and gymnastics all together. I did coach at Gym Works Gymnastics which has now relocated to Suwannee. I now have 2 kids, and my daughter is on Top Notch’s Competition Teams.

Once I let DeShaun know my background he gave me the opportunity to start teaching classes here at Top Notch. I currently teach developmental classes and Coach GymStars. I absolutely love the staff here and the relationships I have developed with the children. Seeing the smiles on children’s faces after putting in their hard work truly brings joy to my soul.

Gymnastics will always be in my blood and never leave. I appreciate Deshaun and Deana so much for allowing me the opportunity to work at Top Notch and entrusting me with your children.

CHRISTINA

Developmental Instructor

Hi I'm Christina! I absolutely love gymnastics, and it's been my passion since I started. As a current level 10 gymnast, and former international elite aiming for collegiate competition in 2026, I've experienced firsthand the dedication and perseverance this sport demands. But what really fuels my passion is coaching and helping young girls achieve their dreams in gymnastics.

At Top Notch, the atmosphere is incredible. It's a place where I not only train hard myself but also have the opportunity to mentor and guide aspiring gymnasts. Teaching them fundamental skills, refining techniques, and instilling values like discipline and resilience is incredibly rewarding. Seeing their faces light up when they finally nail a new skill or routine—it's priceless.

Being able to inspire and empower these girls, to help them grow not just as gymnasts but as individuals, is why I love what I do.

It's about passing on my passion and knowledge, and hopefully, making a lasting impact on their lives. That's what drives me every day at Top Notch Training Center.

VERONICA

Dance Instructor

I am Veronica Newton, Ph.D., a classically trained ballet dancer and instructor with over 20 years of dance experience. My training spans the Vaganova, Cecchetti, and Balanchine methods of ballet. I began ballet, tap, and jazz classes at the age of 3 at Wren Academy of Dance, an all-Black dance studio in St. Louis, MO. At twelve, I started pointe training and joined the pre-professional ballet company Ballet Midwest.

About a year after becoming an apprentice, I was promoted to principal dancer. During my time at Ballet Midwest, I performed in many classical and contemporary ballets, with my most noted roles being Clara in the Nutcracker, Rose in Waltz of the Flowers, Arabian lead in the Nutcracker, and one of the four swans in The Dance of the Four Swans from Swan Lake.

At 16, I was accepted into both the North Carolina School of the Arts Summer Intensive and the American Ballet Theatre's Summer Intensive Program.

I chose to attend ABT's program, where I trained under some of the most prominent dancers and learned numerous classical variations, pas de deux, and additional ballet conditioning. During my first year in college at Webster University, I was invited to join their dance company. This marked the beginning of my journey in teaching and choreographing ballet and jazz routines for aspiring dancers.

In 2023, I joined Top Notch Training Gym as a ballet instructor. I offer unique and exciting ballet technique conditioning classes that focus on lengthening and strengthening the feet, ankles, metatarsals, legs, quads, and core. My passion for ballet and dedication to my students drive me to create a nurturing and inspiring environment for all dancers.
